REMEMBER: FOR THIS DOCUMENT TO HAVE A REAL USEFULNESS, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU GO STEP BY STEP:

  1. – DO NOT HURRY, READ SLOWLY, STOP AT THE END OF EACH PARAGRAPH AND CHECK THAT YOU ARE UNDERSTANDING ITS CONTENT; REFLECT ON IT: HAVE I REALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT I JUST READ? IS IT DISCUSSABLE OR EVIDENT? WHAT IMPORTANCE CAN THIS LEARNING HAVE IN MY QUALITY OF LIFE? IF I AM USING MY MIND FOR EVERYTHING, WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING ITS OPERATION? WHAT PREVENTS ME FROM ACQUIRING THIS KNOWLEDGE AND VERIFYING ITS PROFITABILITY?
  2. – WELL, IN REALITY, THE FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO ACHIEVE IS FOR YOUR MIND TO LET YOU COME, FROM TIME TO TIME, TO THIS WEBSITE TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT THE MECHANISMS THAT ARE DIRECTING YOUR LIFE. IF YOU ARE NOT EVEN ABLE TO DO THIS, WHAT RESULTS CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THAT DEGREE OF CONTROL YOU HAVE?

MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO SET UP TO READ THESE FEW PAGES, DON’T GET IT. I DON’T KNOW IF WE NEED MORE PROOF THAT WE ARE COMPLETELY KIDNAPPED. WE RECOMMEND YOU USE SOME KIND OF REMINDER AND INSIST UNTIL YOU GET IT.

UNAWARENESS, IGNORANCE AND INERTIA

These are the THREE PHASES that must be overcome to achieve a Real and Sustainable Quality of Life:

– The Unconsciousness of Ignorance or Conviction.

I think it is evident that the most common state of people is the State of Conviction. In this state, the person is so sure of what they think and feel that they are incapable of recognising that their Low Quality of Life may be due to the fact that they are functioning incorrectly. When something is wrong, we have something to learn and/or correct; don’t give it another thought and get on with it. Our “problems” are our curriculum; if you don’t accept this you will fall into one of our most dangerous mental traps: Causal Attribution; a mechanism that makes us point to circumstances as the exclusive cause of our situation or state. The person who does not recognize discomfort or conflict as a zone of Adjustment or Learning will only create new problems and complicate existing ones.

We have been taught that to be wrong is to be ignorant, so we have learned to pretend to know and to hide our ignorance in order to try to maintain our self-esteem and the “respect” of others. Big mistake; if we do not become aware that we have something to learn, we will maintain our clumsiness and our mediocre results. The fact is that we tend to obtain the opposite result to the one we were looking for: we lose self-esteem and we don’t even respect ourselves.

We will see that if we do not control this “Feeling of Truth”, it will control our lives, impeding our Real Learning and leading us to clash with the other “convinced” people around us; those egocentric people who do not value the luck they have to have met us.

We are not aware that Life is a mechanism that works with Patterns that we have to learn to manage better in order to obtain better results; if you consider another approach you will be “philosophising” and that does not work for Life. Please, ask yourself seriously these questions: Do we use our Mind to interpret everything and, as a consequence, to feel, decide and act as we do? Do we know how it manages to do it? Is it possible that if you know how a “device” works, you can improve your results and avoid stupid accidents?  Not asking these questions seriously, is what has put us in this inefficient, conflictive and vulnerable position where we complicate the problems we face and create many perfectly avoidable problems for ourselves.

Our unawareness is so great that we do not even consider the need to learn anything about how our mind works and the mistakes we make in using it; this is undoubtedly our greatest oversight. We don’t know too much about ourselves and about life in general; but we live as if we have nothing to learn, looking for ways not to get bored, walking in ever tighter circles without knowing very well why. We are not aware of belonging to an extremely intelligent, ordered, creative and powerful system. That is why our Method has sought a simple and effective way to understand and control our mental and emotional functioning.

– The Ignorance or Clumsiness.

The human being belongs to a Natural Evolutionary System; this implies a learning subject to the trial-error dynamic (experimental method). The result in any Learning Challenge will depend fundamentally on the correct use of our comprehension capacity; it is a question of correctly interpreting and handling the Reality that we have in front of us, in order to achieve the best results. A bad result is not a problem, it is an Adjustment or Learning Zone. We need to realise that we have only two choices: deal with our mistakes or deal with their consequences.

The problem is that most of the time we believe that we can do nothing to improve or that we can improve without doing anything; if your mind convinces you of either of these 2 “ideas” it will keep you in the zone of resignation and inertia for life. Another common trap is to take for granted our mediocre way of functioning simply because we have become accustomed to it and others seem to be the same or worse off than we are; the evil of many…

So ignorance in itself is not a problem, it is only a problem when it is not recognised. It is essential that we understand that when things go wrong for us it is because we have not learned to do them well. Only by assimilating this can you begin to make positive changes in the way you function.  The foundations of correct Learning are Observation and Questioning. The most important questions are the ones we ask ourselves; the ones that allow us to clearly see our areas of improvement. In the following chapters (Keys to the Method/Setting Game) we will indicate those that have proven to be most effective in achieving progress in the understanding of the Reality we are dealing with.

– The Inertia or Automation.

What keeps us in unconsciousness and ignorance is a mechanism we have called TRUTH SENSATION (I think that name makes it clear what we are referring to); that is why it will be one of the main areas of our Adjustment Set. We are so convinced that what we feel is real that we find it too hard to rethink things; that’s why our life tends to become a circle of repetitive thoughts, emotions and behaviors. This is what we will call INERCIA; the mind’s resistance to change that we can observe through our habits.

If the aim of our Adjustment Challenge is to live more fully, enjoying and learning in order to feel satisfaction and add more effectively with others, there is nothing else to do but to take very seriously and gradually regain control over our inertia. We will see that by adjusting our erroneous beliefs (ignorance),  inertias tend to adjust themselves. Because it is these erroneous/learned beliefs that maintain our vicious circles determining the meaning and quality of our life. It is these misaligned beliefs that create our automatic and inertial behavior (believing is creating). It is our learned beliefs that lead us to live with a set of goals that are too dependent on the outside, that hijack our Attention and prevent us from making the necessary changes to achieve the real quality of life we are looking for.

It is when we decide to make a change that we realise the true strength of inertia and the extent to which we function in automatic mode becomes evident. We want to be more aware or pay more attention to some aspects, but our mind has other plans and makes it clear who is in charge. The only way to overcome this drawback is to use three of our most important resources: observation, determination and perseverance; our Adjustment Game is based on them. This is the attitude that will allow us to take action: to be clear that we are not going to stop until we succeed, to look for a realistic strategy and to apply it calmly, learning from the results obtained.

Conclusions on the 3 Phases of the Adjustment Process:

Our Quality of Life is not a matter of chance; it depends fundamentally on us and follows some concrete steps:

  1. RECOGNISE that we have room for improvement.

Ask yourself these questions: Can I learn to feel better and solve my problems better? Does my way of functioning have room for improvement?

If your answers are negative (for example: “I have no problems and no room for improvement” “I have many problems but others have room for improvement”…) surely your mental prejudices are not allowing you to properly analyse our Adjustments proposal. So we are going to recommend the following step:

  1. REFLECT on it.

The next questions would be: Do I believe that it is in my power to do something to improve my life? To what extent does a person’s well-being and results depend on his or her attitude?

Only if we recognise that the improvements we are looking for come from making personal changes will we look for ways to do something and move on to the next step:

  1. UNDERSTAND the importance of learning how to function better and look for ways to do it.

If you have come this far, it is because you have some awareness that improving your results requires making certain adjustments in the way you function. So it remains for you to find a way to do it, i.e. a good Method to experiment with and to commit yourself sufficiently to your Improvement Project. Remember that without adequate commitment Inertias will not allow you to give your Adjustment Process the slightest attention; in fact that will be the first difficulty you will encounter. When you see that your routine-mind does not leave the slightest space for your improvement project, don’t worry, it happens to all of us at the beginning. What you have to do is to use this fact to check that you are completely kidnapped by your automatisms and rebel against this situation.  Only if you do that will you really start to regain control of your life. Then you will have reached the fourth step, which is where the process of improvement really begins:

  1. KNOW. Have a practical, orderly and simple method.

It can be the one we are going to propose or any other that seems appropriate to you), study it calmly and visualize with maximum clarity the necessary actions to make the desired changes.

  1. APPLY this knowledge with determination on a daily basis and observe the results.

We are talking about applying THE EXPERIMENTAL METHOD to our way of living; IT IS THE ONLY METHOD THAT REALLY WORKS and the one used by science in all its fields of research. In our lives Learning is an inevitable process, the only thing we can decide who really directs our learning: us or our environment. Regaining control over our lives means regaining control over our learning processes.

In short, with the Adjustment Method we will learn to:

1-Recover Calm:  which is our natural state, and we say this because it appears without further ado as we control/adjust our mental movements (to be calm all we need is for our mind to be quiet for a while).

2-Rehabilitate the Questions:  to eliminate the erroneous beliefs that has taken over our lives.

3-Establish some Simple Routines: that allow us to eliminate inertia and enable a more satisfying and effective attitude.

Having said that, let’s LOOK AT THE KEYS OF OUR ADJUSTMENT PROPOSAL:
